Princess Simpson Rashid is an American painter, printmaker, blogger, art activist, competitive sport-fencer and coach. Her current body of work explores the relationship between color, perception and symbolism.

Rashid has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums, art centers, galleries and alternative art spaces across the United States including the Pacific Grove Art Center in Pacific Grove, CA, Felix Kulpa Gallery in Santa Cruz, CA, Tempus Projects in Tampa, FL and the CoRk Art District in Jacksonville, FL.

In addition, her paintings and prints are in museum and private collections in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Portugal. Rashid’s museum collections include, The Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville, FL, The Spencer Museum of Art in Lawrence, KS, and The Lake Eustis Museum of Art in Eustis, FL.  

Rashid has received many commissions to create paintings that depict various scientific and math disciplines. Recently, she has been commissioned by the accounting firm of Leich & Teeling CPA, PA in Tampa, FL to create a mural depicting the evolution of numbers.  Her other commission specialty is creating paintings depicting the dynamic nature of modern competitive sport fencing.

Her awards include an Art Ventures Grant and an Independent Life Minority Grant from the Community Foundation of Jacksonville. She has won art prizes and purses in Florida Watercolor Society (FWS), Tampa Regional Artists (TRA), and Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture & the Arts (TBBCA) competitions. She has also been named The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville 32nd Annual Art Awards Cover Artist and a Beaches Fine Art Series Cover Artist.


Princess Simpson Rashid was born in Atlanta, GA in 1972. She studied printmaking and painting at Escuela de Artes Plastica (The School of Plastic Arts) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She studied and earned her B.S in Physics from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA.  She currently lives in Tampa, FL with her husband and two young daughters.
